Welcome Back to Term 3
I wish everyone a very warm welcome to Term 3. I hope that you and your family were able to have a good break, and able to enjoy some time doing the things that help you to relax and recharge as a family. It is certainly great to see the children full of energy and enthusiasm.
There is much for us to look forward to in Term 3, yet once again we find ourselves in an ongoing situation of uncertainty and concern with regards to the continuing COVID pandemic. As mentioned in our pre-term Newsletter last week, here at Claremont we continue to be prepared for what might lie ahead. I am confident that we have the necessary measures in place to do all we can to care for children, staff and visitors. These measures and the expectations we have in place for our school community, are provided further into the newsletter. Should the third wave escalate, we will respond according to the NSW Health guidelines - and of course we will communicate this with you, in the same ways, as in the past. This Weekly Newsletter and School App alerts will continue to be our primary means of communicating with you.
With the current surge of COVID in mind, from my perspective we must continue to prioritise our connectedness to one another. Even with the challenges of physical distancing, I encourage you to prioritise relationships - checking in with others, caring for those who are unwell, and importantly, please do not hesitate to be in touch with us at school. It is important to us to hear your news, your concerns, questions, or to provide further clarity or information when it is needed. For this reason, whilst this current wave continues I will open my Zoom room for a weekly opportunity for parents to meet with me on Wednesdays from 2:00pm-2:30pm. Everyone is welcome. Bring your questions, suggestions or ideas. Here is a link to the Zoom (click HERE). If you have a specific question, it would be appreciated if you could send it my way in advance HERE, but otherwise, feel free to join without an RSVP.
Staff Professional Learning Day
Our Staff day on the first day of every term provides us with an incredibly valuable opportunity for learning, planning and team bonding. On Monday the entire staff team participated in the most brilliant learning experience at Coogee Beach, bushland and clifftops. Our learning explored an understanding of our local Indigenous connections. We learnt about our connection to the land, sea and each other as we listened to stories presented by local Aboriginal people. A staff picnic (in the warm sun!) was also enjoyed by us all. We are so blessed to have a school situated in this beautiful location.
