Our teaching approach

Research informed practices

Our approach to educational innovation is grounded in research-informed practices to ensure we offer the best environment for students to learn. We’re not beholden to legacy systems, frameworks or thinking. We don’t just encourage our students to learn, we’re open to learning ourselves.
Teacher collaboration, learning acceleration

Children are taught by a team made up of teachers, a learning assistant and a learning enrichment teacher. This provides a more attentive learning environment that ensures children are given the attention and support they each need.
Learning by ability, not grade

Children are taught at a pace that is based on their learning needs, rather than their grade.
Specialised teachers, specialised learning

Children receive richer, deeper knowledge from specialist teachers who teach their subject of expertise including PE, Music, Art, Sport and Literature.
More teachers, fewer children

Each grade is concentrated with a high teacher-to-student ratio, ensuring every child has the right support at each stage of their learning journey.
Recognising and rewarding academic excellence

Children with advanced abilities have access to specialised programs to help accelerate their potential, and have the freedom to progress without limitations.

School readiness program

Our 4 to 5 year old school readiness program, Wylie Cottage, offers a purposeful, research-informed, and play-based program inspired by Reggio Emilia practices. With early access to Library, Sport and Music, children build confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
Stepping up to high school

Our High School Study Program gives children and parents the reassurance of a seamless transition to high school. We instil in children a set of dispositions including collaboration, compassion and innovative thinking to prepare them for their next step.
Every child leaves ready for the future

We are committed to developing knowledgeable, confident and critical thinkers, equipped with the future-ready skills and dispositions they will need to thrive throughout their lives.

Protecting health and happiness

Physical, mental and emotional well-being is prioritised daily with a registered nurse and school counsellor on school grounds all week.
Social and emotional learning

Our Open Parachute program ensures children’s wellbeing, resilience and interpersonal skills are nurtured. Additionally, our PBIS (Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports) framework reinforces positive behaviours to help children develop into successful members of the community.
Children with voice and choice

Every child has a voice in shaping their learning experience, from learning spaces to playgrounds. This helps build confidence and a sense of agency in all our students.

Clubs are fun because you get to try new things and find out what you enjoy.
At Claremont everyone looks after each other. No one is left out.
English is fun because we get to play with words and use things like similes and metaphors to make our writing really interesting!
I like Prep because we learnt about the Cooroobee frog and that it is endangered.
I love learning in Science because we got to make a rain gauge to help solve a problem.
I love doing Year 6 Maths even though I am in Year 4. It is challenging and I never get bored.
I love reading because I can sound out new words all by myself. I’m getting better every day!
